Nutrition Counselor

About the Position

The Nutrition Counselor works directly with caregivers of children admitted for severe acute malnutrition, supporting one of the center's highest-impact programs.

Job Summary

This role provides individual and group nutrition counseling to caregivers, monitors patient progress, and supports the Stabilization Center's recovery outcomes.

Main Responsibilities / Duties

• Counsel caregivers of children with severe acute malnutrition on feeding practices.
• Monitor and record patient nutritional progress.
• Conduct group education sessions for caregivers.
• Coordinate with clinical staff on treatment plans.
• Support community follow-up for discharged patients where needed.

Required Qualifications

• Diploma or BSc in Nutrition, Public Health, or related field.

Required Experience

• Minimum 1 year of experience in nutrition counseling or community health.

Skills and Competencies

• Strong interpersonal and counseling skills.
• Good understanding of malnutrition management protocols.
• Fluency in Amharic and the local language(s) spoken in the catchment area.
